american-nostalgia: The first girl group to achieve star status, the Shirelles were four Passaic, New Jersey teenage friends who sang for the fun of it when they cut the idiosyncratic, affecting “I Met Him on a Sunday” in 1958.
One of my favorite songs since as long as I could remember is “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?” I have the original by the Shirelles, but I also have a bunch of covers of it (including Amy Winehouse’s, which is a personal favorite).
